God Loves Even the Existentialist
posted by Amy on January 11, 2008 at 07:52 PM in Christianity, Philosophy, Random

I think I am justified in hoping that God will have mercy on a skeptic like me because He inspired the book of Ecclesiastes. You should go read that book. Yes you.

Paris, J'Taime
posted by Amy on January 12, 2008 at 11:00 PM in Film

I just finished watching Paris J'Taime, and I wish I spoke French.

It was enjoyable to watch without being great. Sort of like people watching at the airport, or flipping through a pretty magazine. It occupies you for a while, and you see some very interesting things, some beautiful things, some strange things. I particularly liked the story of the blind man and the actress, and I was especially touched by the story of the woman who leaves her baby with daycare to go watch a rich lady's baby.

I would really recommend this film, but after nearly two hours of slice of life impressionism, I can hardly string together a complete sentence. C'est la vie.

Despite all evidence to the contrary (apologies to my husband for recent moody tumultuousness) I really am happy with my life. I like my friends, I like my job, I love my church, I love my husband, I like where I live, I like the way we spend our time. Things are far from perfect, but I don't really have anything to complain about. I just suffer from grass-is-greener syndrome pretty much all the time. I will work on that, I promise.

Why is my Skin Blue?
posted by Amy on January 25, 2008 at 04:51 PM in St. Louis, Theatre, Random, Personal

So, my husband bought me a pair of dark blue jeans from Express (i know, way to go husband!) which I LOVE LOVE LOVE because they fit and are flattering AND are comfortable - a combination I thought impossible. The only thing is, when I wear them my fingernails and the skin on my hands turn slightly blue - presumably from contact with my jeans. WTC?!* Obviously it must be from the dye, except I have already washed these jeans. So how many times through the wash before I can wear them without slowly morphing into a Smurf?

P.S. Congrats to my hubby for scoring his Kevin Kline Award nomination! {swoon}

*what the crap?!

Your Votes May Not be Safe

I am not familiar with the group that made this video, but if what they show is accurate, then its pretty darn disturbing.

Those votes in New Hampshire may not have been tampered with, but how are we to know? The point is we should be positive that they haven't because those in charge ought to be following strict procedures. The cynic in me wonders if we, the people, ever really elect our government officials...
